Terms of Service

Effective date: April 23, 2026

1. Definitions

• Service Provider: Cezary Nowak, operating as a sole proprietorship, address: ul. Pomorska 54/2, 85-051 Bydgoszcz, Poland, contact: getcouplebud@gmail.com.
• User: an individual using the Service.
• Service: the web application available at couplebud.com and associated domains.
• LITE Plan: the free version of the Service with limited functionality.
• PRO Plan: the paid version of the Service that unlocks full functionality, offered on a subscription basis.
• Couple: two Users linked by a shared couple code within the Service.

2. Technical requirements

Using the Service requires:

• a device with internet access,
• an up-to-date web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge),
• JavaScript and cookies enabled,
• an active email address.

3. Registration and account

• Users must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction) to create an account and enter into a binding agreement under these Terms.
• Users create an account by providing an email address and password, or by signing in with a Google account.
• Passwords must be at least 6 characters. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their credentials and for all activity that occurs under their account.
• One account may belong to one individual only.
• The Service Provider may suspend or terminate an account in cases of Terms violations, suspected fraudulent activity, or unauthorized access.

4. Service functionality

The Service enables users to:

• add and categorize shared and personal expenses,
• sync data between partners in real time,
• generate settlement dashboards based on declared incomes and agreed cost-sharing percentages,
• set savings goals (PRO Plan),
• access annual statistics and advanced features (PRO Plan).

The Service Provider is not an accounting firm or financial advisor. The Service is solely for expense tracking, and all calculations are for informational purposes only.

5. Payments and PRO subscription

• The PRO Plan is provided on a subscription (SaaS) basis. Fees are charged cyclically, in advance, for the selected billing period (monthly or annual).
• The PRO Plan price is $9.99/month or $99.99/year. Prices listed are exclusive of applicable state and local sales taxes, which will be calculated and added at checkout by our payment processor (Stripe) where required by law.
• Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. The Service Provider does not store payment card data.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period.
• Users may cancel their subscription at any time through the Customer Portal in the app settings. Cancellation prevents the next billing charge; the User retains PRO access until the end of the current paid period.

6. 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee

• We want you to love CoupleBud. We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee for all new PRO subscriptions.
• If you are not satisfied with the Service, you can request a full refund within 14 days of your initial payment by contacting us at getcouplebud@gmail.com.
• Subsequent subscription renewals (monthly or annual) are not eligible for this 14-day refund period. Users may cancel renewals with effect from the end of the current paid period.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

Disclaimer of Warranties: THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.

Limitation of Liability: TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE PROVIDER'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100 USD. IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.

• The Service Provider is not liable for errors resulting from incorrect data entry by the User.
• The Service Provider does not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the Service. Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible.
• The Service Provider is not liable for data loss caused by hardware or software failure on the User's side.
• Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for fraud or personal injury caused by negligence.

8. Account and data deletion

• Users may delete their account at any time through the app settings or by contacting us via email.
• Deleting an account does not automatically cancel an active Stripe subscription. Users should cancel their subscription first.
• Deletion of an account by one couple member does not automatically delete the couple's shared data - the other member retains access to joint expenses.

9. Newsletter and marketing communications

• During registration, Users may optionally consent to receiving commercial email communications from CoupleBud.
• All marketing emails will include a clear identification of the sender, a physical mailing address, and an unsubscribe mechanism, in compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act.
• Consent may be withdrawn at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email footer or by writing to getcouplebud@gmail.com. Opt-out requests are processed within 10 business days.
• Transactional emails (account confirmations, receipts, security alerts) are sent regardless of marketing consent, as they are necessary to provide the Service.

10. Dispute Resolution and General Provisions

• These Terms are available at couplebud.com/terms.
• The Service Provider reserves the right to amend these Terms. Changes take effect 7 days after publication. Active subscribers will be notified of material changes by email.
• Informal Resolution: Before filing any formal legal claim, you agree to contact us at getcouplebud@gmail.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
• Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland. However, if you are a resident of the United States, you may also be entitled to the consumer protection rights of your state of residence, and nothing in these Terms waives rights that cannot be waived by contract under applicable US law.
• Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
• Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and CoupleBud regarding the Service.
